The draw has been made in Angola for next year’s African Cup of
Nations. The sixteen teams have been split in to four groups of four,
Group A based in Luanda has hosts Angola with Mali,
Algeria and Malawi. The first game of the tournament will feature
Angola versus Mali.
Group B based in Cabinda contains: Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo and Burkina Faso.
Egypt versus Nigeria opens Group C on January 12th in Benguela. Current CAN holders Egypt are grouped with Nigeria, Benin and Mozambique.
Group D in Lubango has Cameroon, Tunisia, Zambia
and Gabon. The Chairman of Ghana’s Football Association said “there is
no better description of this group”, when it was referred to as the
Group of Death, the Ivory Coast and Ghana will renew their rivalry and
faces neighbours Burkina Faso and Togo.
