Barcelona star Samuel Eto'o may well have saved under-fire Cameroon coach, Otto Pfister, from losing his job.
to media reports in Cameroon, Otto Pfister will remain as coach of the
Indomitable Lions despite mounting criticism from the public and
football legend, Roger Milla, following a losing start to their
qualifying campaign for the 2010 World Cup.
Last month, Cameroon lost 1-0 to Togo in Accra, Ghana, in a Group 1 World Cup qualifying tie.
fence-mending meeting called by Cameroonian sports ministry went
horribly wrong on Monday when Milla, who heads a special task force for
the national team, openly asked the coach to pack his bags and head
back home to Germany.
Cameroon's Under-20 coach, Alain Wabo, has already been linked with
taking over the full international team from the much-travelled Pfister.
However, sources close to the football authorities have now revealed
that Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has been able to convince the
officialdom to have faith with the embattled German coach after he
compared Cameroon's situation with that of France, where coach Raymond
Domenech was spared the bullet and he is now producing the results for Les Bleus.
